It’s an Experiment?
A Pastor at seminary once told me, “Your relationship with God isn’t meant to make you happy. It’s meant to make you Holy.”
Many of my peers in the room that day “ooooed” and “awwwwed” in great reverence at this wisdom.
But to me, it was like he was saying happiness and holiness weren’t synonymous, that you could only have one, happiness or holiness, which didn’t seem wise to me.
If you are truly Holy like God is Holy, wouldn’t that make you happy?
I guess it boiled down to how you defined the terms.
Unsettling and undefined, can we be curious about that question together?
